Monday Mayhem

Welcome to Monday!

Today is mayhem here on the blog.  I have lots to get done this week and I am starting full force this morning.  I was busy yesterday doing lots of sewing.  I did my charity blocks for our guild, and I have some Secret Santa gifts in the works.  I am going to be working hard today!  Here is a peek of the tote bag I am working on for my sister.  This is one of several projects in the works!

Off to make a valiant effort on knocking out some projects today!
Let me know what you are currently working on!

Have a great Monday!

Sewing Saturday!

Happy Saturday!

It is Sewing Saturday!  Whew!  I have got a lot to do!  I just made a list of current projects I have to do....most by the end of November!  I really need to kick it in gear!  As I made my list, it kept getting longer and longer.  A few projects are for swaps, some are gifts and some are for customers.  I am categorizing them by dates and importance at this point.  Luckily, some are very small projects, so I should be able to knock them out quickly!  I am starting today by doing the two charity blocks for our modern guild.  We are doing improv blocks for this quilt, as the last one turned out so well with all the improv.  We are using Aqua, Orange, Yellow and Gray as our colors for this quilt.  I am using solids, but we can add a print if we want.  So, this is my first project to knock out today.  Then, I am on to several others!  We will see how much I get done!

If you are sewing today, let me know what you are working on!

Hope you have a Super Spectacular Sewing Saturday!

Fun Friday!

TGIF---It's Friday!

Hello and welcome to Friday!  I thought this was going to be a productive week and in some ways it was, but as far as sewing goes, it was not.  I did, however, finish the table runner last night and I will post pics at the first of the week.  I want to get it into the mail first, so I will be doing that today!

Here are a couple of fun fat quarters I bought at a nice little quilt shop in Georgia last weekend.  These are just fun and so pretty!  Not sure what I am going to do with them, but I love them.  I bought some other fabric that I will share as we go!

Tuesday Talk

Happy Tuesday!

It's starting out to be a very rainy day today.  We have needed some rain, but I don't think we needed this much at one time.  Oh, well!  After today, the weather is supposed to be great with lower temperatures...it is going to feel more like fall!

Here is a simple quilt top that I have not quilted yet.  It is supposed to be a Potato Chip pattern quilt, but I changed it up a little and just did the squares and put sashing in between.  This is a quilt for my son, who like some of our family, is a NC Tar Heels fan.  At one point, he wanted to go to college there, but ended up staying here in TN.  I still wanted to make him a quilt and I started this one almost two years ago.  Then, I got it back out to piece together and then never quilted it because I got busy with other projects.  Imagine that!  I am thinking about getting it out again and quilting it very soon.  I would like to give it to him one of these days!  LOL

So, how many quilt tops do you have finished, but not quilted?
I have five right now I can think of!  I know that is bad, so I am going to try to do something about all those!  LOL  I also have blocks that were put together from several online bees and one from our guild that I participated in and need to sew those together.  I have four sets of those and then they need to be quilted.  Ugh...I need to get this stuff done, but I have got to make time to do them!

Let me know how your unfinished projects are going!

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Monday Mayhem!

It's Monday!

Just a quick post today!  Time to start another wonderful week.  Well, as much as I had hoped last week would be extremely productive, it was not.  I did not get near as much done, but that happens sometimes.  This weekend was not extremely productive either, but it was a pretty relaxing weekend.  I tell you more about my weekend later.

I have been sharing several of my local modern guild's charity quilts.  This is the latest one and this one is going to be sashed in Navy Blue Kona and will have a pieced backing with several blocks and Kona Coal.  We decided to do this quilt a little different.  We asked our members to do improv blocks and this is what they came up with.  These blocks are all so different and they are gorgeous!  This is going to be one great quilt!  I have the privilege of sewing the blocks together with the sashing.  We had a sew-in last week and we laid all the blocks down so that we could arrange them and this is what we came up with.  It will have the two inch Navy sashing between the blocks.  Once it is finished, it will go to our quilter to be quilted and then I will bind it and our guild will send it to its new destination here in town!

Let me know what you think!

Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday and it's time to be Thankful!

Today, I am thankful to our Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild for finding a charity that we could become involved in.  We started making charity blocks last year.  We decided on the type of block and the colors and we ask our members to make a 12 1/2" block or two, once a quarter.  We then turned them in, put them together, quilted them and passed them along to a wonderful charity in our town that helps single mothers.  (I will talk more about this charity soon, as there are many exciting things happening!)

Here is one of the quilts we have done, recently.  We had decided on warm colors in oranges, reds, yellows and pinks and decided to do a pinwheel block.  As you can see, there are a number of different blocks, besides the basic pinwheel.  It turned out beautifully with all the variety of blocks and colors and we even had a few extra blocks to piece on the backing.  Our quilter did a simple meandering stipple on the quilt, so that it would not take away from the movement of the blocks.  I just think it is gorgeous.  The girls in our guild are so talented and so giving and love doing our charity blocks for such a great cause.

We did four different quilts this past year, in different block designs.  Two were in warm colors and two were in cool colors.  I will feature all of these soon.  We have decided to adopt this charity for the next several years, because we like their mission.  We also decided to do charity blocks every other month, instead of once a quarter.  We are doing improv blocks now in certain colors each time.  I am so excited, because I love doing the charity blocks for such a worthy cause.  I will share more with you on the blocks, quilts and the charity in the next little bit!

Because that's what kindness is.  It's not doing something for someone else because they can't, but because you can.

Have a very Thankful Thursday!

Friday Fun and Quiltcon Block Reveal!

TGIF!  It is Friday!

Wow!  Where has this week gone?  It has been a busy one.  My son is getting ready to go back to college next week.  Well, college is only 15 minutes from home, but there was some moving involved and lots of running around and picking up lots of stuff for him.

I have also been working on a few projects, such as QuiltCon blocks, card samples and I am trying to finish my tote bag that I am a little behind.  I think I can get it finished today.
Anyway, it has been busy week.

I wanted to reveal my Quiltcon Blocks I submitted this week!  I love these blocks and may go end up making a quilt or two or three using blocks like this.  All blocks are 12 1/2 " high with various widths.  I did incorporate all the Quiltcon colors in each block that were put together in fat quarter bundles by Marmalade Fabrics.  If you haven't visited the website, please do and order from them.  They are a main sponsor for QuiltCon and have excellent customer service.
I will be ordering from them again!

While these blocks may not be picked to go into the main QuiltCon Quilt that will be put together for display at Quiltcon and then raffled, these blocks will end up in a some wonderful quilts that will be given to kids in Austin Children's Shelters.  This was a fun challenge and I can't wait to see all the blocks put together for all the quilts!  I was very happy to do this challenge!

Monday Mayhem!

Welcome to Monday!

It's going to be an extremely busy week!  I have way too many things to get done, but I am determined.  Last week did not quite go as I had planned and I did not get everything done.
That's OK though....things are coming along at a good pace right now.
I just don't have much time to slow down.  :)

Here's a little sneak peak at the progress of my QuiltCon blocks.  I have all three done and will reveal them later this week.  They are going in the mail today!  I am so excited!

I will be working to finish my tote this afternoon.  I will reveal it later this week after it goes in the mail.  I want my partner to be surprised when she receives it!

Hope you have a Marvelous Monday!

Fun Friday!

Happy Friday!

Hey there everyone!  It's Friday and it's going to be busy!  This has been a very busy week, but I have not gotten as much done as I had hope!  Going to be working on my tote today!  Yes, I have not made a lot of progress this week, due to some other things coming up.  I have to get it done asap and move on to some other projects, so that is my focus today!  I will be taking some progress pictures along the way today to show you all this weekend.  I only have a couple of pieces put together at the moment, so I haven't taken any pics yet.

I also have Quiltcon blocks to get done and some card samples.  Going to be a busy weekend!

I thought I would share another photo I took at the beach.  This was on the first full day we were there.  This huge sand castle complex was made by a family that was right next to us.  They must have worked on it the whole day and it was quite impressive.  Our nieces and nephews dug and built various sand castle creations all week and had so much fun!  Wish I was back there!

Hope you all have a Fabulous Friday and a great weekend!

Designed my QuiltCon Blocks last night, so I will be starting on those and on my tote later today!
I will update you on the progress of both tomorrow!

Monday Mayhem!

It's Monday, time for Mayhem!

I am back from a little break, a much needed vacation break to the beach!
I love the beach because it is so calm and soothing to hear the waves crash upon the sand.
It makes me feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Now, time for mayhem!
I have a lot to do this week. I have a tote bag to make for my SewSwapIt Group.  My partner likes bold and bright colors like me, so I picked out this fabric earlier.  Hope she likes it!

I have three QuiltCon Blocks to make in the next few days.  I just could not get to them before I left for vacation, so now it is time to kick it into high gear and get those done over the next few days.
I am so excited about QuiltCon and I can't wait til February!

I also have some handmade card prototypes to make for a potential order and other cards to start on for two other different orders.  Looks like August just might be a very busy month!  :)

Have a great Monday!
