Working Wednesday

It's Wednesday!

Today is Working Wednesday!  It is time for me to get it in gear!  I have not done anything over the past few days, as far as sewing goes!  Got to quilt my table runner today and get it done.  It has been on my list to do this past week, but sadly, I have not been able to get to it.  I have had many things to do and have not been sewing, so I am ready!

Here is another unfinished project to work on at some point.  This is a modern quilt I started earlier in the year.  This is only part of it, but the good news is that the top is put together and it is partially quilted.  LOL  Got to get it finished soon!

Have a great day!

Monday Mayhem!

It's Monday!

Just a quick post today!  Time to start another wonderful week.  Well, as much as I had hoped last week would be extremely productive, it was not.  I did not get near as much done, but that happens sometimes.  This weekend was not extremely productive either, but it was a pretty relaxing weekend.  I tell you more about my weekend later.

I have been sharing several of my local modern guild's charity quilts.  This is the latest one and this one is going to be sashed in Navy Blue Kona and will have a pieced backing with several blocks and Kona Coal.  We decided to do this quilt a little different.  We asked our members to do improv blocks and this is what they came up with.  These blocks are all so different and they are gorgeous!  This is going to be one great quilt!  I have the privilege of sewing the blocks together with the sashing.  We had a sew-in last week and we laid all the blocks down so that we could arrange them and this is what we came up with.  It will have the two inch Navy sashing between the blocks.  Once it is finished, it will go to our quilter to be quilted and then I will bind it and our guild will send it to its new destination here in town!

Let me know what you think!

Work in Progress

Happy Day to You!

Today is Wednesday and it's a Work in Progress kind of day!

I wanted to share with you a snippet of a quilt top that is done, but still needs to be quilted.  I also need to piece the backing, but I just have not been able to get back to this one.  It is going to be one of my favorites once it's done!

I will keep you up to date once I start back on this one!  I hope to get it done soon!

Have a great day!

Tuesday Sneak Peek

It's Tuesday!

Today, I am posting a sneak peek of fabric for a project I am working on.  I will be able to show it soon, but I have to quilt it and bind it first!  It is a secret, so check back in a few days!

Have a great day!

Monday Mayhem

It's Monday!

I hope your day and week are starting out to be great ones!  As I type this, I have about a million things I need to put on a list and get done!  Ever have those days, weeks, months?  It's going to be a busy one!  LOL  I was in kind of a funk this weekend.  I just didn't feel quite up to par.  I was a little tired and run down, but I think I finally am feeling better today!  I know I am going to be busy and I think I am feeling like I can do it this week!  At least I am telling myself that and staying positive about it!  :)

I wanted to post a couple of pictures of some of the things we did at our sew-in this weekend.
We went over sandwiching a quilt, thread basting and pin basting.

We talked about free motion quilting

Here are some different examples of free motion stitches that our guild president, Emily, put together.

We talked about squaring up quilts

We went over different methods of binding quilts.  This one is using a binding tool for your machine.

We went over hand binding, which is the traditional method.

I went over machine binding, which is what I demonstrated using a decorative stitch!

This was such a wonderful day of learning and sewing and I am so grateful to our girls in the guild.  We all learn so much from each other!

Have a wonderful Monday!

It's Friday!

Welcome to a Fabulous Friday!

Hello again!  Today it Friday! TGIF!  It has been a busy week and I have actually been able to sew just a little bit!  I wanted to show you a sneak peek of a project I have been working on.  This project is one we are doing for our guild sew-in.  We are teaching a couple of classes on how to make this project.  I will reveal it soon and explain what we did in these classes.

More to come soon!

In the mean time, please have a safe and Fabulous Friday!

Potato Chip Charity Quilt

It's Tuesday!!!

Today, I am going to show you a charity quilt I made for my sister's church this past spring.  Last year, I made a baby quilt and this year, I decided to make a throw quilt.  I wanted to stick with an easy pattern, so I decided to do a Potato Chip Quilt.  This is a very simple pattern and I had some beautiful, pastel, floral fabric to make this quilt with.  The name of this quilt is "Springtime Blossoms" and it helped raise money for a children's charity in Omaha, Nebraska.

I wanted to show you several views of the quilt and quilting.  I did straight line quilting around the squares and then I did a diamond square in the middle of each square to give it a little contrast.  This quilt went together very quickly and is one I will make again!

Have a great day!
