Our Blog Hop theme is "Going Green" and since St. Patrick's Day is this week, we thought we would throw a cool color combo in the mix: Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White!
I just love this color combo, because it screams Spring!!

I decided to use a Starbuck's Mocha Frappuccino bottle for my recycled item. For the bottle cap, I edged it with ribbon and punched a circle out of Tempting Turquoise and a smaller one out of Green Galore, then ran both through my Big Shot, used chalk ink on the edges, and added several flowers together with a brad.
For the body of the bottle, I cut out two strips of cardstock, one slightly smaller than the other.
I then took a flower border punch to the Green Galore strip and punched both sides.
After adding the green strip to the Tempting Turquoise strip,
I inked the edges, added ribbon and then another flower!
This is a great storage bottle for my ribbon! I color coordinated my ribbon with my bottle!
Yes, I have lots of ribbon in my stash! LOL I just may start making more of the Ribbon Storage bottles for some other colors too!

Very pretty! The only problem is that I would probably need 200 of those little bottles to hold all my ribbon! lol

ReplyDeleteMy green tip is to use baby food jars as well as the little plastic tubs that some baby food comes in for embellishment storage! They work great!

ReplyDeleteI use the plastic cake frosting containers for storage, I decorate & label them. They are a great size for many things, plus easy to store away because it has a lid.

I just LOVE the layered flowers on the lid - uber pretty!!! My green tip is to keep a big plastic storage container handy (Rubbermaid works best). We keep ours by our doorway in the garage to fill with newspapers, flyers, and flattened cardboard. Just makes recycling easier and more convenient :) Then a couple of times a month, I take the container to the recycling depot (I am lucky, it is on my way to work).

ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable project. Our city recycles paper and plastic, ink cartridges go back to the store for store credit, I run a day camp for kids with disabilities so we use Crystal Light containers for all kinds of crafts as well as toilet paper rolls. At home I use the glad containers that our sandwich meat comes in for food storage and storage for my small acrylic stamps and blocks. I decorate larger plastic jars to use as donation jars for various charities I am involved with and the list could go on.

Cute bottles! The only tip that comes to mind is to looks at everything twice before getting rid of it. Hot sauce bottles with super-narrow necks are great for glitter, wooden tangerine crates can hold lots of different things, etc.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty bottle. I like to reuse the packaging that bling comes in. They make cute little holders for candy treats just by adding a little cardstock & embellies.

ReplyDeleteI love to recycle all types of glass and plastic containers for my embellishments. I especially like the ones that lunch meat come in because they stack together nicely and you can see what is inside.
So cute! My green tip...Like a lot of these other ladies, I try to find uses for everything rather than throwing it away/buying something else. Glass jars, shoe boxes, shipping boxes. I also use reusable shopping bags, natural, concentrated household cleaners (and white vinegar), I always wash my laundry in cold water, and keep a box next to my craft desk for paper scraps (that I wont use for something else!!) to be recycled!

ReplyDeleteEvery piece of paper that comes out of my printer that will not be used for what it's printed for is put on the side for scrap paper. I am known to cut them in fours for note taking. This especially came in handy when we were still using the fax line, and we would get junk faxes all the time :)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Stephanie! I've enjoyed reading your comments and picking up "green" ideas! I keep a small garbage can on my desk and all paper scraps go into it for recycling. We are lucky, where I live we have an extensive recycling program that gets picked up weekly, I have 3 blue boxes...1 for paper, 1 for cardboard, and 1 for everything else!

Love your ribbon bottle! My main recycle product is the tin can from the International Coffee...the only problem is if you use the General Foods container the lid is red so you have to coordinate with red...but Smith's (Kroger) carries a generic brand with a clear plastic lid...yay!
