Layer It! Challenge @ DCRS

Here is my entry for Week #2 at Die Cuts R Us! It was a "Layer It" Challenge! We had to create a layered embellishment for a LO/card/altered item.

I decided to get my Cricut out and use my new Graphically Speaking cartridge. I cut out all the lettering and the butterflies. I used the Icon and Icon Blackout features to create my butterflies. I then ran the Icon Blackout piece(bottom) of each butterfly through the Big Shot to add some depth with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder and the used chalk ink to show the texture. On the top of the Butterfly, I added Stickles, let that dry and then added the gemstones.

Products:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Papper: Me and My Big Ideas--Tropical Destinations
Brads: Spare Parts
Gemstones: The Paper Studio
Stickles: Fruit Punch, Orange Peel, Eucalyptus
Chalk Ink: VersaMagic--Perfect Plumeria, Key Lime, Oasis Green, Persimmon, Pumpkin Spice
Die Cut Machine: Cricut--Graphically Speaking Cartridge, Big Shot
Embossing Folders: Cuttlebug--Swiss Dot

Hope you enjoy my creation! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Steph

SPCC #10

Wow!!! This week is the 10th week of the SPCC Challenge! I can't believe it! For this week, we have another great Color Combo and a GREAT sponsor! Here are the colors:

And now for our sponsor: iCopic.com!

They have gladly sponsored us for the next 4 weeks! Wow! They also donated markers for all of the SP Divas to work with! I am so excited! Please join us for this great SPCC Challenge! You never know...you just might be the proud winner of these:

Here is my creation for this week! I used the Copic Ciao Markers to shade in my pumpkin. I bought some of these recently and had only a few colors...so I experimented! I started out with the Crushed Curry cardstock and stamped the pumpkin image. Now, I could have left it as is, but I decided to get my Yellow marker out, along with the Blush, Pure Pink and Lilac to color and shade the pumpkin. I also used the Ice Blue, Yellow and Lilac for the leaf. It's amazing what you can do with these markers and just a few colors, especially on different colors of cardstock! I know, I know...LOL....color basics, but I had never used the markers before and I love them! I will definitely be ordering more!

Challenges for the week

Here is my entry for the very first Die Cuts R Us DT Challenge:
http://diecutsrusdesignteam.blogspot.com/2009/08/challenge-1-monogram-it.html
This week the challenge is to create a LO/card/project using a Monogram! I thought this was a very cool project for me to try! I also decided to combine it with the Finally Friday Challenge over at SPCC: http://spcolorcombos.blogspot.com/2009/08/finally-friday.html
This challenge was a Monotone Challenge--create a project using only one color. So, I decided to use the blue family and this is what I came up with!

I guess you could say it was a very MONO day today with these two challenges! LOL If you haven't checked out these challenges, you NEED to! The DCRS challenge is over tonight at midnight and the winner will be announced on Sunday and the next challenge will start Tuesday!

The SPCC challenge is a fun challenge that will help broaden your creativity. There are no prizes, just fun! Don't forget to check out the SPCC Color Combo Challenge while you are there! Great colors, fun and prizes!
